An undertrial lodged in the central jail allegedly committed suicide, police said today.
The deceased was identified as Balwant Singh belonging to Dhandi Khurd village in Jalalabad, they said.
Singh was booked in connection with the murder case of his wife last month and was shifted to this jail on May 18 from Fazilka.
His body was today found hanging from the ceiling fan of his barrack.
Recently, another jail inmate, identified as Gurmeet Singh, had also committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in the bathroom of the jail.
Central jail officials said Singh's body will be handed over to his family members after postmortem.
They said investigations were being carried out to ascertain the cause behind the incident.
