Karamveer, who was facing trial in a 2011 murder case, was arrested on September 23, 2011 by the Gautam Budh Nagar police and since then has been lodged in barrack number 22 of Dasna Jail, Jail Superintendent Vireesh Raj Sharma said.
"Karamveer suffered heart attack at around 4.30 AM today. Thereafter, a jail doctor checked him. But his condition deteriorated and at around 5.30 AM he was taken to a district hospital where he was declared dead," said Sharma.
Sharma said the body has been sent for postmortem examination and a judicial probe has been recommended by the jail authority, adding that Karmveer's family has been informed about his death.
