"One of the reasons for growth of insurgency in the region is unemployment. It had also led to other social problems in the region and growth of industry and business opportunities can curb the problems," Gogoi said here.
Banks and financial institutions are nowadays keen to help youths set up businesses, he said adding industry bodies and other stakeholders should also come forward and help youths achieve gainful employment.
Gogoi said youngsters in Assam and the north-east require help and guidance in using their potentialities and the state government has taken a number of initiatives for skill development and training of youths.
The event was also attended by Founding Trustee and Executive Vice President Lakshmi V Venkatesan and CII Assam State Council Chairman Dipak Chakravarty.
