Media has no guts to expose Modi, says Kejriwal

Accuses the media of not bringing out the 'truth' about the Gujarat CM before the people

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said here today that the media does not have enough courage to expose Narendra Modi, chief minister of Gujarat.

"Has media got guts to expose Modi? They are only repeating all lies he tells in campaign speeches about the so-called development in Gujarat," Kejriwal told reporters here during the AAP road show, which is underway since this morning.

Continuing his attack on media, especially news channels, Kejriwal said the truth about Modi's development claims was hollow.

"The question, however, is which media house will dare show that. For instance, about 800 farmers committed suicide and about 16,000 small scale industries shut down under Modi's regime. But these stark facts are neither shown nor reported," Kejriwal said.

Recalling his recent visit to Gujarat for a firsthand account and assessment of the much-touted Modi's development model and growth across sectors, Kejriwal said corruption was no less in Gujarat than elsewhere.

He said some sections of the media were deliberately misleading the people by bluffing about the development in Gujarat under Modi. A make-believe image was being created to influence the people to vote for the BJP by the section of the media, he alleged.

Kejriwal began his road show today in IT capital to campaign for his candidates contesting in the general elections April 17 across Karnataka.

Kick-starting the road show from Hebbal in northwest of Bangalore amid tight security, Kejriwal's cavalcade passed through thickly populated localities such as Ganganagar, R T Nagar, Jayamahal, Cantonement and Queens Road in the city centre.
