Unidentified persons attempt to steal oil from pipeline

Unidentified persons allegedly attempted to steal oil from the Mathura-Salaya pipeline here, police said today.
The incident took place on Thursday evening near Sersa village which falls under Farah police station.
"Engineers started looking for the hole after a drop in pressure was detected in the pipeline and with intensive patrolling the exact spot was found," DSP Ajai Pal Sharma said.
"The hole had been made by cold welding and it was plugged on Friday evening. The refinery is assessing the exact loss, if any," he said.
The owner of the land is absconding, police said.
Earlier, a similar attempt was made at Puspanjali Upavan which falls under the Highway police station, they added.
