A Buddha idol at a temple here was allegedly vandalised and a Buddhism preacher thrashed by a group of persons, police said.
The incident took place yesterday in Baudh Vihar temple in Dinagarhi Colony and came to light today when enraged residents of the locality lodged a complaint with the police against unidentified miscreants for vandalising the idol and thrashing the preacher Angulimaal.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC, SHO Sihani Gate police station Ashok Shishodia said.
"Police are in the process of identifying the miscreants. They will be arrested soon," Shishodia added.
