A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, an official spokesman said here.
He said that the decision would benefit around 5,000 employees and create an additional burden of around Rs 90 crore per annum, which would be borne by different enterprises and corporations of their own resources.
The spokesman, however, clarified, that a certain category like home guards, Prantiya Rakshak Dal, Shikshamitra, Kisanmitra, MNREGA, Ashabahu and anganbari would not be covered under this.
The spokesman said that a target of distributing 27,000 motor or battery operated rickshaw has been fixed, which would involve an expenditure of around Rs 372 crore.
