A special POCSO court here has sentenced a man to 10 years in jail for abducting and raping a minor girl.
In the judgment of the quantum of punishment delivered on Tuesday, Judge Sanjive Kumar Tiwari also imposed a fine of Rs 22,000 on Monu alias Ajay after holding him guilty under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The court also directed the convict to pay 20,000 from the fine as compensation to the victim.
According to the special lawyer for POCSO cases Dinesh Kumar Sharma, a 13-year-old girl was abducted and raped by Monu (30) at Kanhahedi village under Charthawal police station in the district on May 15,2016.
The father of the victim had lodged an FIR in this connection following the incident.
