UP Police recruiting Class X pass girls as 'power angels'

Uttar Pradesh police is recruiting Class X pass girls from poor families as 'Special Police Officers' under the Power Angel scheme, Inspector General of the 1090 Women Power Line Navneet Sikera said.
He said this while speaking at a one-day workshop on "Role of police in stopping torture against women" here yesterday.
Sikera said women should not tolerate any sort of maltreatment and should openly speak up against it as well as inform the police.
Through the medium of 1090 Women Power Line, whenever we receive any complaint of physical or mental harassment anywhere in Uttar Pradesh, the centre calls up the man and warns his of proceedings against his action. Most of the matters are solves within 24 hours, he said.

Woman Power Line 1090 was established by Uttar Pradesh government in 2012 to prevent of atrocities against women.
