Targeting Congress-led UPA, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said stoppage of long term action plan for development of the KBK (Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput) region showed its apathetic attitude towards people of the backward area.
Patnaik said keeping in view the need for development of the poverty-stricken area and uplift of its people, Odisha government had launched the Biju KBK Yojana.
During his whirlwind campaign tour, Patnaik told a meeting at Korchamal in Nabarangpur district that BJD always stood and worked for upholding the "swabhiman of Odisha" and "vikash of the state and its people".
Stressing that development of backward areas and weaker sections of the society was on the top in BJD government's agenda, Patnaik said ever since it came to power many welfare schemes and programmes were implemented for socio-economic development of the tribal dominated areas and its people.
Implementation of rice at Re one a kg was benefiting lakhs of people, he said.
Delving into the BJD manifesto released yesterday, he said it laid stress on creating infrastructures, further development in agriculture sector, improvement of backward areas, establishment of development council, more schemes for farmers and women empowerment.
At Kalimela and Mathili in adjoining Malkangiri district, Patnaik said development work in the district would be expedited and efforts would be taken for uplift of the people.
During the day-long campaign, Patnaik covered all seven Assembly segments under the Nabarangpur Parliamentary constituency.
