The United States has launched an innovative, new Public-Private Partnership website in an effort to push for better donor experience.
Nisha Biswal, Assistant Secretary of State for South & Central Asia, and US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dan Mozena, participated in a State Department Google Hangout to announce the launch of the website yesterday.
It will allow donors to find and support effective Bangladeshi NGOs, as well as receive feedback from the recipients on how those donations are being implemented, a report said.
Other participants in the Hangout are the website designer, Adnan Mahmud, and Korvi Rakshand, the founder of the JAAGO Foundation, a Bangladesh-based, non-profit organisation that will benefit from the new website.
"Today, Bangladesh is a centre for social innovation with many initiatives being led by youth.
Whether creating new models of healthcare or galvanising volunteers, these innovative programs are having significant impacts," the State Department said.
These programmes, however, are often hard to find support, and donors want to know that their contributions are going to legitimate organisations.
Lift Bangla will improve the donor experience by directing funds to efficient and legitimate organisations," it said.
The website claims to offer best place to find interesting, credible social innovation projects in Bangladesh, and increased exposure for Bangladeshi youth who are driving change in Bangladesh, donations through Lift Bangla are tax-deductible and impact reports from the field on how their donations are being implemented.
