The US Embassy Kathmandu held a memorial service to pay tribute to the US Marines, Nepal Army personnel, and the civilians who died when the American UH-1 "Huey" helicopter crashed on May 12 in Nepal's northeastern mountains.
Six US Marines, two Nepal Army soldiers and five civillians were killed during the mission to transport local villagers to a hospital after the devastating earthquake in Nepal that killed thousands.
The memorial plaque for the victims was placed at the premises of the Phohra Durbar American Compound in Kathmandu, which served as the home base for the Marines in Nepal, a US Embassy statement said.
"This memorial plaque will always remind us that together, our two countries can accomplish great things.
