US woman alleges molestation in bus in JK, accused arrested

A 23-year-old US woman has alleged molestation by a co-passenger on a state bus on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday when the woman, a resident of California, was travelling from Srinagar to Jammu with another US girl, a police officer said.
When they reached Jajjarkotli checkpoint, the woman came down and told the police that the man teased and molested her in the bus when fellow passengers had gone to have tea en-route, Jajjarkotli police station SHO said.
The police acted swiftly and arrested an accused, 44-year old Gopal Krishen, a resident of Hoshiyarpur area of Punjab, the officer said.

The duo were travelling in a state road transport corporation bus, he said, adding that the accused exchanged his seat with a boy who was sitting beside the two girls in the bus.
A case has been registered under under Section 841 of the Ranbir Panel Code, the officer said. Police also submitted a chargesheet in the case in a court today, he said.
