As many as 850 teaching posts would be filled through the HESC by December this year, an official release said.
A decision to this effect was taken during a review meeting of the Higher Education Department chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna who asked the officials to ensure transparency during the selection process.
The government also decided to increase the retirement age of lecturers from existing 60 years to 65, the release said.
It also decided to grant Rs 40 crore for constructing buildings of various degree colleges, it said.
Bahuguna directed officials to open ITIs on PPP mode at Kot, Tharali, Khatima and Sahaspur, an engineering college at Gopeshwar and a polytechnic college at Gairsen.
