The driver of Mumbai-bound Saurashtra Mail averted a possible mishap near Vadodara station by applying brakes after spotting a large iron rod on the track last night.
"The incident took place at around 1 am, when the loco pilot spotted a two meter long iron rod on the railway track. He instantly applied brakes and averted a possible mishap," said M S Sindha, Superintendent of Police, Western Railway.
The rod was removed and the train resumed its journey.
"We have lodged a complaint under section 150 of the Indian Railway Act against unidentified persons. We have also beefed up the patrolling near that area," said Sindha.
