Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb Wednesday paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 143rd birth anniversary by saying that he unified the country without any battle.
Deb also took part in the 'Run for Unity' held on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) which is observed every year on the day.
"Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel unified entire India with all his might and ensured our unity. The most important thing is that he did this without any battle, not even an exchange of barb with anyone. I remember him and congratulate Prime Minister for observing his birth day as Rashtriya Ekta Divas on behalf of people of Tripura," Deb said.
Patel, the first Home Minister of Independent India, is credited with merging 550 princely states into the Union of India.
