Acting on a tip-off, a vigilance team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kanishk Maharaj laid a trap and arrested Assistant Sub Inspector of police Ram Sundar Prasad, who was posted at Vidupur police station in Vaishali, an official release said.
Prasad was arrested following a complaint by local resident Dinesh Prasad Gupta that the police official had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 for offering "help" in a case.
A trap was thereafter laid down as part of which Prasad was persuaded to accept Rs 10,000 as the "first installment". He was caught red-handed from Maya Ram Pethia Mor locality.
This was the vigilance department's 11th trap in the month of November and 77th in the year 2017. A total of 78 persons have been arrested by the vigilance department in traps laid so far this year.
