Two leaders of a nationalist party in Pakistan's Sindh were gunned down today, triggering riots and violence in the province.
Maqsood Qureshi and Salman Wadho, central leaders of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), were shot dead in a targeted killing in Naushero Feroze district, police said.
After shooting the two leaders, the assailants also set their vehicle on fire and fled.
The killing triggered widespread unrest in many towns and cities of the province with business activities also shutting down immediately.
As news of the killings spread in the province, miscreants opened firing in which some people were injured. Shops, petrol pumps and vehicles were also set on fire.
The traffic was disrupted on the national highway due to the protests.
A senior leader of JSQM Niaz Kalani claimed before reporters that intelligence agencies were behind the killings.
Maqsood is the younger brother of Bashir Qureshi, JSQM chief, who was killed two years ago in mysterious circumstances.
