Vodafone to expand 3G network to more than 50 towns in Assam

Vodafone India today announced the expansion of its 3G services to more than 50 towns in Assam.
"We acquired 3G spectrum in March 2015 auctions and have made significant investments of Rs 500 crore in Assam & North East Circle to provide high speed mobile internet services to our valued customers.
"We will continue to expand in a phased manner to cover more geography across Assam & North East, thereby bringing in further investments in the region," Vodafone India Business Head - Assam & North East Circle - Alok Verma said in a statement.
Vodafone has so far activated over 1,000 3G cell sites across Assam, including over 300 sites in Guwahati, and continues to add more towers, the statement said.
Vodafone, as part of its 50 towns expansion plan on its own 3G network roll-out, has now covered key areas in Assam like Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, Silchar, Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Tinsukia, Barpeta, it added.
In the NE Circle, Vodafone has also rolled out its own 3G network in Itanagar, Bomdila, Tawang, Along, Basar, Bhalukpong, Dirang, Changlang, Palin & Seppa in Arunachal Pradesh; Kohima & Dimapur in Nagaland; Jowai, Nongpoh, Tura, Shillong & Ladrimbai in Meghalaya; Aizawl in Mizoram; Agartala & Teliamura in Tripura and Imphal in Manipur.
"Initial response from subscribers who have experienced our superfast 3G services has been very positive and encouraging," Verma said.
