As Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a seven-day visit to Ireland and the US today, Congress took a dig at him asking what gains the country makes from his frequent trips abroad.
"The Prime Minister travels to various nations but there is hardly any result from these visits for India," Congress spokesperson R P N Singh told reporters here.
Referring to the 3.1 billion dollar deal with US defence major Boeing ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, Singh said this meant "Make in America" is going to benefit from such trips, and not his much-hyped 'Make in India'.
While the Prime Minister is paying frequent visit to various nations, even countries like Nepal are raising questions about some of India's actions, Singh said.
The Congress spokesperson also hit back at BJP for taking potshots at party vice-president Rahul Gandhi over his visit to the US.
"Stop being obsessed with Rahul Gandhi. Instead of targeting the Congress vice-president, BJP should focus on fulfilling the promises made to people," Singh said.
Earlier in the day, BJP leader Sambit Patra said Gandhi's US trip might be a "forced vacation" as Congress' allies, JD(U) and RJD, wanted him out of the Bihar poll campaign.
