The BJP today said the Congress governments could not achieve in 65 years what the Narendra Modi-led government did in just four years.

"What Modi government did in four years, the Congress was not able to do that in the last 65 years of rule", Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson and MLA Priya Sethi said.

The former minister attacked the Congress for its "double standards" and said that the party is putting its vested "self-interest over the national interest".

She accused the Congress of playing the vote bank politics and said it wants only to come to power.

Whereas, the BJP believes in equal development for all and nation-building, she said.

Sethi claimed that the Congress was "never concerned" for the development of the state, in particular the Jammu region.

Otherwise Jammu would have never been neglected to such extent, she said.

The newly appointed BJP state spokesperson boasted about the development initiatives taken by the BJP-PDP coalition government in the Jammu region.

"Within a short span of less than three years, that too in a coalition government, we have taken up a number of development initiatives in the Jammu region such as Mubarak Mandi heritage complex, cable car project, multi-level parking complexes, artificial lake, IIT, IIM, which were long pending demands of people of the region," she said.

She added that it was in our tenure that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for legislators was enhancement from Rs 1.50 crore to Rs 3 crore and the guidelines for spending CDF have also been modified to incorporate various other social and developmental activities under the scheme.

A legislator can now utilise upto Rs 20 lakh as medical assistance, with a ceiling of Rs 10 lakh per patient, out of CDF for providing assistance to BPL patients for treatment of liver or kidney transplant, bone marrow and heart transplant, blindness and other dangerous diseases, she said.

She said, going by the mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi - "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas" - adequate facilities were being provided to people in every village and town irrespective of their cast, creed, religion or region.

The spokesperson said that the BJP is a party of nationalists and its every member will always put the national interest first.

She added that the Modi government has launched many women-specific schemes which are benefiting them.
