Wheat falls on ample stocks

Wheat prices drifted lower by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on adequate stocks position against reduced offtake by flour mills.
However, other bold grains led by barley ended higher on pick up in demand from consuming industries.
Traders said actvity remained restricted due to paucity of funds after government banned Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes in a bid to curb black money.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) fell by Rs 50 to Rs 2,100-2,105 per quintal.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also settled lower at Rs 1,150-1,160, Rs 1,230-1,240 and Rs 1,300-1,320 against last close of Rs 1,180-1,190, Rs 1,280-1,290 and Rs 1,350-1,360 per 50 kg respectively.

On the other hand, barley shot up to Rs 1,800-1,810 from previous level of Rs 1,720-1,725 per quintal. Bajra and maize also moved up by Rs 10 and Rs 20 to Rs 1,450-1,455 and Rs 1,560-1,570 per quintal respectively.
