Veteran artist Satish Gupta used his master strokes to create large waves and splashes of the sea on a large canvas as he imagined the waters hitting the rocks on the seashore amid a roaring storm.
As Gupta mesmerised an audience here, French dancer-choreographer Gilles Chuyen evoked a sense of peace and tranquillity amid this storm with his performance.
Gupta was showcasing his current project 'Roaring Sea-Still Mind', which is inspired by an evening along the beach in Normandy, France where artist Claude Monet painted a tumultuous sea and a mind deep in meditation oblivious to the danger around.
"The storm became a metaphor for what is happening in the world right now, with all the chaos," 71-year-old Gupta said.
The event, held on Sunday night, was curated by DLF King's Court in collaboration with Gujral Foundation.
Another installation of Gupta that featured was the sculpture Icarus Falling, depicting large wings in gold - standing tall at seven feet, weighing 40 kg.
The copper work with gold plating hung in a corner from a thread, turning around like a kinetic artwork and traces its roots back to the story of Icarus from Greek mythology.
Gupta elaborates upon the tale of a father and son who used wings to escape the island of Crete, only to have Icarus, the flyer, fall from the sky after the wax that joined his wings melted when he moved closer to the sun.
The evening was attended by the who's who of the fashion industry and the art world.
