Wintry weather continued in several parts of north India as mild snowfall occurred in the higher altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh and many places in Jammu and Kashmir registerd near-freezing temperatures.
However, people in Delhi experienced a warm day today as the mercury shot up to 29.7 degrees Celsius, settling four notches above the season's average.
According to the MeT department, today's maximum was three notches up from yesterday's 26.7 degrees Celsius.
Humidity in air oscillated between 33 and 90 per cent.
The minimum temperature was recorded as 9.1 degrees Celsius, one notch above the normal.
Temperatures rose across the Valley and settled near the freezing point in most places, giving little respite from the frosty conditions, even as the MeT Department predicted snowfall in the higher reaches today.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar settled at zero degree Celsius, slightly up from the previous night's minus 0.8 degrees Celsius.
Mercury in Gulmarg also recorded a low of zero degree Celsius, while Pahalgam registered a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded 0.7 degrees Celsius, while Qazigund and Kokernag towns in south Kashmir registered minus 1.6 and 0.4 degree Celsius respectively.
Leh, in the frontier region of Ladakh, continued to be the coldest place in the state with the minimum settling at minus 9.7 degrees Celsius as compared to minus 9.9 degrees Celsius the previous night.
The nearby Kargil town recorded a low of minus 9.2 degrees Celsius as against yesterday's minus 9.8 degrees Celsius.
