The fire broke out in the thatched house of Kailash Naik (33), a daily wage earner, at Akhadasahi village under Bangiriposi block late last night, said Reena Benera, Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Bangiriposi police station.
While Naik's wife Bina (26) was burnt alive on the spot, their daughter Chumuki (2) was rushed to hospital in Baripada where she succumbed to injuries during treatment early this morning, the IIC said.
Naik was undergoing treatment at the hospital here and his condition was stated to be critical, police said adding two other children of Naik escaped unhurt.
