Woman charred to death after firecracker guts hut

A middle-aged woman was charred to death after a firecracker fell on the thatched roof of her hut gutting it completely in Erramanzil here in early hours today, police said.
The mishap occurred at around 1.30am today, when K Nagamani (50) was fast asleep and a firecracker fell on the hut and engulfed it in flames within minutes,they said.
Though locals made efforts to put off the blaze pouring water, Nagamani could not be saved, police said, adding, that the woman's body was later found charred inside.
