Woman drowns after slipping into Yamuna river

A 50-year-old woman drowned after slipping into the Yamuna river today near Jankichatti in the district, a police official said.
Ludri Devi, a resident of Kharsali village near the famous temple of Yamunotri, had gone to fetch water from the river near Jankichatti this morning when the incident occurred, DSP Ganesh Lal Kohli said.
The woman's body has been recovered and handed over to her kin after post-mortem, he said.
