Woman held for murdering youth; husband at large

A 23-year-old woman was arrested today from Malwani area for allegedly murdering a youth while her husband is absconding, police said.
Police cracked the case after body of one Chandan Yadav, a marble polisher, was found in his room adjacent to that of the accused Saira Sheikh.
Police said the motive behind the crime was not known yet.
The murder took place on January 15 after Saira and her husband, whose name is withheld by police, made Yadav consume alcohol and then smashed a beer bottle on his head. They allegedly slit Yadav's throat with broken piece of glass, a police official said.

Police said Yadav, who had come to city a month ago, was staying alone.
His body was found yesterday after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from his room, and in turn informed the police who broke open the door.
The body had deep gashes on throat and head, police said.
Saira was produced in court today which remanded her in police custody till January 23, the official added.
