A woman employee of an IT firm at Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park (RGIP) here today alleged that two persons tried to molest her when she was returning home after finishing her work on Wednesday, the police said today.
The incident occurred when the woman, riding a scooter, stopped on Chande-Nande Road near the IT hub to wear her raincoat.
"The woman left her office on Wednesday afternoon and was headed towards her home on her scooter. She stopped on Chande-Nande Road to wear raincoat when two unidentified persons came there and tried to molest her," Additional Commissioner, Pune Police, Shashikant Shinde said.
He said the duo fled soon after the woman called up her friend.
"Though the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Pune Rural Police, the city police too will conduct a probe," the ACP said.
The safety of women working in around 400 IT and ITes firms in the city, mainly concentrated in Hinjewadi area, is the cause of concern with growing incidents of attacks on them in the recent past.
In January this year, Infosys employee Rasila Raju (23) was found killed on the campus. Police had arrested a security guard in connection with the incident.
In December last year, Antara Das, working with an IT firm here, was hacked to death by an unidentified assailant barely some metres away from her office.
