A 19-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a male co-passenger in a shared rickshaw in the city, police said today.
The incident took place late last night and the 29-year-old accused, Sagar Dumbre, was arrested in the wee hours today, police added.
The complainant said that she had boarded the shared rickshaw at Gamdevi Maidan around 9.30 pm and was on her way to Chirag Nagar when Dumbre allegedly molested her, Thane police spokesperson Sukhada Narkar said.
The woman lodged a complaint with Naupada police station, following which the accused was arrested around 1 am from his residence in Laxmi Nagar, she added.
Dumbre was booked under IPC section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) by Naupada police.
Further investigation is on.
