Woman shot dead over property dispute

A 75-year-old woman was today shot dead and nine others of the family were seriously injured when a clash took place between the family members over a property dispute at Purbaliyan village in the district, police said.
Hasina, wife of Samruddin, was shot dead by her sons when family members clashed with each other over a piece of agricultural land, they said.
Police rushed to the spot and the deceased's son Sherjan (40) was taken into custody. The injured were rushed to a hospital, they added.
The victim's body has been sent for postmortem, police said, adding that investigation is on.
In another incident, an 18 year-old-girl was hacked to death by unidentified men at Kidwai Nagar here, police said today.
The incident happened last evening when Arzu Perveen, daughter of Liyakat Wasa, was alone at her residence and some miscreants entered the house and murdered her, they said.
The cause behind the tragedy has not been known yet, they said, adding that a case has been registered against the accused.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old woman was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Dhansri village in the district, police said today.
The incident happened yesterday when Sumitra had gone to her fields, they said.
She had been living with her two brother in-laws after the death of her husband, they said, adding that property dispute could be a reason behind the murder.
A 30-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison over some family dispute at Bachan colony here, police said today.
Moni Raghuvanshi was being harassed by her in-laws after she gave birth to a girl child, they said.
A case has been registered against Moni's husband Ravi, mother-in-law Karti and sister-in-law Doli for abatement to suicide, they added.
In another case, an elderly woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Ganga canal at Khatoli in the district, police said today.
The incident happened last evening, police said, adding that the unidentified body has been sent for postmortem.
