Refuting the allegations of opposition DMK that projects announced under Rule 110 of the Assembly were not completed, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam today said action has been taken and work completed in most cases.
In 2014-15, former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had announced 236 projects and out of this government orders were issued for 116, work is on in 111 projects and work was completed in five, Panneerselvam said.
Three projects (2014-15) are pending with the Centre, he added.
He was responding to a special calling attention motion in the Assembly today.
In 2013-14, Jayalalithaa had announced 292 projects. GOs were issued for 287 projects and work completed in 126, he said.
He also reeled out statistics for 2011-12, and 2012-13 to state that action has been taken and work done for the announcements of new projects by Jayalalithaa under Rule 110.
"People know that suo motu (under Rule 110 of the House) announcements made by Puratchi Thalaivi Amma (as Jayalalithaa is popularly known) is a boon for them," he said accusing the DMK of often raking up a false allegation that no action was taken on such announcements.
"DMK member Stalin campaigned during the Lok Sabha elections that no action was taken on suo motu announcements. Amma had give a befitting reply then itself," he said.
Still, by repeatedly making the same false allegation some, including DMK member Stalin, feel that they can hoodwink the people, Panneerselvam alleged.
