The mining corridor project, which was mooted since last five years to avoid the trucks carrying iron ore, is expected to ease congestion on the main roads of South Goa.
Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Chairman Dipak Pauskar told PTI that the tender for the mining corridor would be given next month.
He said the project which will be constructed in three phases would be completed in three years.
"Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has already given his go-ahead for the project. There are some issues related to the project as it runs through the forest areas. These issues are being sorted out," he said.
Pauskar saidGSIDC is going to fund the project, which will also include 10 per cent share from the district mineral funds, where themineowners have paid one-third of their royalty payment for the development of areas affected withminingactivities.
Goa has mining as a major economic activity with the taluka of Sanguem having few of the important iron ore leases.
