The results of the local body polls in Gujarat and Maharashtra "clearly show the writing is on the wall. The message is loud and clear that public approves of the Modi government's policies and rejects the Opposition's tactics and stand on this issue," he told reporters here.
"I again request Congress and other opposition parties to allow both houses to function and start a debate tomorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will intervene in both the houses...It is clear that we have walked halfway and they have not yet started," he said.
"The public wants debate. It does not favour such tactics of the Opposition. No party is opposing action against black money. They only have issues regarding its implementation which we are ready to listen and consider," Kumar said.
He said that voting on the issue of demonetisation is unlikely as it will suggest that the House is divided.
Replying to a question about amendment in the Income Tax Act which was passed by Lok Sabha today, Kumar said all "appropriate" procedures were followed for the Bill and the government had an informal discussion with the Opposition on it.
