WW II cartridges recovered

At least 742 cartridges of World War II were found when road construction workers were digging earth at Tipong in Tinsukia district today, official sources said.
The workers informed the police who took the bullets into their possession for handing those to the appropriate authority.
The bullets were of sten guns, 303 rifles and light machine guns with some have the year 1941 and 1942 inscribed on them, the sources said.
Recovery of World War II arms and ammunition was a common occurrence in the locality under Ledo police station area where an army centre was located during the period, the sources said.
