"Promises like the special category status for AP, a special package for backward areas and setting up a steel factory in Kadapa are not fulfilled yet," Yechury said addressing a public meeting here.
He appealed to people to fight unitedly for the special status promised by the Centre at the time of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2014.
He also criticised incumbent Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over the issue.
"Chandrababu Naidu successfully grabbed fertile lands of farmers and has failed to pursue the assurances given by the Centre to state," Yechury said, alleging that both state and Union governments are filled with "scam masters".
