Latching onto Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's remark that "achhe din has become a millstone around government's neck" remark, CPI(M) general secretary Sitram Yechury on Wendesday said the 'jumla' (catchphrase) "sold" to voters is now a "bone stuck" in the throat of ruling BJP.

"The mystery of the missing #AchheDin: A jumla sold to the voters, that is now a bone stuck in throats of the BJP," Yechury said on Twitter.

Speaking at an event in Mumbai on Tuesday, Gadkari had said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's famous slogan had originally been coined by his predecessor Manmohan Singh but has now become the "millstone" around the NDA government's neck.

"Achhe din maanane se hota hai (Good days depends on one's belief). It was at an NRI meet in Delhi that Manmohan Singh had said that 'Achhe din ayenge' (good days will come).

"When asked when 'achhe din' will come, Singh had replied, 'in the future'. Modiji said the same thing somewhere and it has now become the millstone around our neck," the Union Transport Minister had said.
