Young Mizo Association (YMA) today warned that Mizo people would launch a mass search operation, if Deep Mondal, abducted by Bru goons and NLFT cadres and kept in captivity for more than 50 days inside Bangladesh, is not released during January.
A meeting of Central Committee of the YMA and the Sub Headquarters of the Mizoram-Bangladesh-Tripura border Mamit district urged the abductors to release Mondal, an employee of the Telecom Network Service, a franchisee of the Airtel company, immediately and unconditionally.
"If the abductors do not release him on or before January 31, the Mizo people would launch a traditional search operation," the statement issued today said.
The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) or the Mizo students' federation also urged the abductors to free Mondal unconditionally and immediately or face the wrath of the Mizo people.
"We will not tolerate the Brus using the Mizos and non-tribal people working in Mizoram for earning money by way of abduction for ransom," the MZP said in a statement.
Disruption of peaceful atmosphere in the state adversely affected development and such disruption from across the border by the Bru goons would not be tolerated but the Mizo people would retaliate, the statement said.
Mondal was abducted by a group of Bru goons and NLFT cadres combine along with two Mizos - Sanglianthanga and Lalzamliana from Mamit district on November 23 last and were kept in captivity in the NLFT hideout inside Bangladesh jungle since then.
While the two Mizos were released by the abductors on Tuesday morning, Mondal remained in captivity as the NLFT commander reportedly expected that ransom might be paid by the captive's parents or the firm he works for.
