Young Jena holds Iranian IM Mousavi Seyed in Asian Jr Chess

Odisha youngster Rakesh Kumar Jena held fifth seed Iranian International Master Mousavi Seyed Khalil to a creditable draw in the second round of the ongoing Asian Junior Open Chess Championship here at Park Plaza, here today.
Playing with white pieces of London system Jena forced his Iranian rival to sign the peace treaty after 42 moves.
Top seed GM Aravindh Chithambaram defeated compatriot Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad while second seed GM Karthikeyan Murali garnered victory over Sammed Jaykumar Shete in 34 moves.
Another Indian GM in the fray SL Narayanan also had easy day as he overcame IM Krishna Teja without much struggle.
In the girls section, top seed R Vaishali outwitted Jemal Ovezdurdiyeva of Turkmenistan with black pieces while third seed Women International Michelle Catherina had an off day as she suffered defeat by the hands of K Priyanka.
Third round of the championship are in progress at the time of report.
