Youth attempts to rape physically challenged girls, held

A youth today allegedly tried to rape three physically challenged girls in an NGO-run home in Hiranpur of Jharkhand's Pakur district following which he was arrested.
According to the complaint, the youth, allegedly along with his two accomplices, sneaked into the Home, located in a dilapidated building of Minor Irrigation Department, through a broken window and attempted to rape three girls at around 3 AM today.
While two of them escaped as neighbours rushed in to help the girls on hearing their screams, one was caught and handed over to police, officials of the home said.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Santosh Kumar said the arrested youth, a resident of Hiranpur, has been booked on the charge of attempt to rape after he was interrogated.

The circumstances behind the incident were being probed and things will be clearer after the two accused who managed to escape are held, he said.
The Kendra accommodated around 100 girls, who are all physically impaired.
