One person was arrested for allegedly opening fire in which a youth was injured during a brawl in Kasba area of the southern part of the city today, police said.
Amardeep Singh, who allegedly fired from his single-shot gun that bruised past Debasish Mondal's leg, was later arrested by police, a police officer said.
"The incident happened this afternoon when a car hit two persons in Swinhoe Street. Though nobody was injured some locals including Debasish allegedly broke the glass panes of the car. A few minutes later the driver's friend Amardeep Singh came to the locality and a brawl ensued," the officer said.
Singh then allegedly took out his gun and fired two rounds, one of which bruised past Debasish's leg injuring him, he added.
"We are looking into the matter and questioning Singh. But going by the initial investigation it seems that both were drunk," he said adding that the youth was discharged from a local hospital after preliminary treatment.
