Police apprehended a 20-year-old youth and his juvenile friend who used to snatch mobile phones and then sell them on an online shopping website.
The arrested youth has been identified as Rohit, a resident of East of Kailash.
Police said that on the night of January 4, Rohit and his juvenile friend had snatched a mobile phone from one Rahul and fled from the spot in Lajpat Nagar area.
Thereafter, Rahul registered a case at Lajpat Nagar Police station.
"Police put the snatched phone on surveillance and during investigation, it was found that the mobile was in possession of one Vikas who was later summoned and it was revealed that it was purchased by one Roshan Ali through online shopping website," said a senior police official.
The official also said that when Ali was interrogated, he told police that he bought mobile phone from one Dheeraj Pandey through online shopping website.
"Later, Pandey was also called and interrogated who also said that he had purchased the phone from one Rohit. When Rohit was interrogated, he broke down and confessed to have snatched it on January 4," the official said.
Giving advice to people, police said that while purchasing second hand goods/articles through online shopping websites, people should remain careful as such articles could be stolen property and to avoid any future complications, they should demand original bill of the articles from the seller.
