Four persons, including a woman, were arrested and two cars seized, police said.
Abishek did not return home after he left for a get-together on October 3. His kidnappers soon rang up his family and demanded a ransom of Rs two crore, police said.
The boy's father Ravisundaram, however, alerted police and as per the instructions of the kidnappers, proceeded in a car to meet them at a spot with the ransom.
Special police teams tailed him as he was going to the area and soon spotted two cars following him. They cornered both vehicles, in the process of which one turned turtle.
Investigations revealed that a former employee was behind the crime. He and his lover had plotted the kidnap. The lady had allegedly made her daughter pretend as if she was in love with Abishek.
The three enlisted the help of the other gang members to kidnap Abishek after coming to know of his Oct 3 plan.
Police are on the lookout for the former employee.
