Civic body razes 474 structures in anti-encroachment drive

The Thane Municipal Corporation today removed 474 structures during the anti-encroachment drive in the city.
The drive is being carried out by municipal workers. Encroachments on foot-paths and nullahs have been removed in presence of large police personnel, Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal told PTI.
The drive was carried out in all parts of the city and as many as 474 structures were razed, an official release said.
When asked whether the drive will continue, Jaiswal replied in affirmative and said citizens want to see the city getting rid of encroachments.
In some areas, local opposed the drive, a civic official said.
