The incident happened when a Howrah-bound bus of the WBTIDC from Rajabazar lost control while taking turn at College Street-Surya Sen Street crossing and ran on the pavement hitting a few persons and crashing into a book stall there, DC Traffic, V Solomon Nesakumar, said.
Manirul Sardar (21) of Canning in South 24 Parganas district was badly injured following the accident and was declared "brought dead " when taken to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, Nesakumar said.
Two others Sujit Saha (48) and Debjit Poddar (21) were treated and discharged after preliminary treatment, the DC said adding the driver of the bus was arrested.
