An initiative of the Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing (MIGM) at ISB, the club will be formally launched at the Big Leap Summit - a two-day conference being organised at the ISB's Mohali campus on September 6 and 7. The summit is being organised to provide a platform for in-depth discussions between promoters, entrepreneurs, technologists, operations and financial experts from the SMEs on current challeges and how to overcome them.
"Over the years, SME clusters have played a very important role of being the drivers of growth in India in general and in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the surrounding region in particular. However, the SMEs have not always been able to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by fast pace of globalisation. A major reason for this has been the lack of access to the latest best practices being followed around the world," said Pradeep Singh, CEO, Mohali campus, and deputy dean, ISB.
He further said, "The Big Leap Club at the ISB is designed to fulfill this critical gap and support the SMEs by sharing with them knowledge and insights by global experts that will help them revive and put themselves on the growth path once again. The MIGM at ISB will engage closely with the SMEs over the next one year and support them through various initiatives."
The speaker sessions will revolve around themes such as - growing business through action learning, lean manufacturing, just in time concepts; mastering negotiation techniques, improving performance capabilities and strategies for growth.
