Sleeping woes

Do you sleep well and what prevents you from getting adequate sleep? The answers are in the Great Indian Sleep Scorecard 2018, a sleep survey conducted by Wakefit.co — a sleep solutions-driven company — and featuring 7,500 respondents from across India the surveyer went to. Over a three-month-period, Wakefit spoke to people of different profiles and age groups and found that a whopping 60 per cent of Indians go to bed after 11 pm, which is past the recommended regular sleeping time, that is, between 10 and 10.30pm. Some of the other key findings were 31 per cent of people getting less than seven hours of sleep. Among the seven cities that featured, Gurugram and Kolkata get the least sleep, as 38 per cent respondents from these cities said they were getting between six and seven hours of snooze time.

Amazon leads

According to Gartner, Inc., the worldwide infrastructure as a service (IaaS) market grew 29.5 per cent in 2017 to a total of $23.5 billion, up from $18.2 billion in 2016. Amazon was the number one vendor in the IaaS market in 2017, followed by Microsoft, Alibaba, Google and IBM. Between them, the top four providers represent approximately 73 per cent of the total IaaS market and 47 per cent of the combined IaaS and infrastructure utility services market and all of them have seen significant jump in their revenues. For example, Microsoft saw a growth of more than 98 per cent on its IaaS offering, with revenue surpassing $3.1 billion in 2017. Gartner analysts believe a groundswell of demand for cloud-skilled personnel is forcing technology providers to change how they compete to meet this demand.
