9 Foreign Shipping Firms Vie For Lng Transport Order

Nine foreign shipping companies are girding up their loins to participate in the bidding for the prestigious contract to transport 7.5 million tonnes of LNG every year from Qatar to the Indian ports of Dahej and Kochi.

These nine companies have been shortlisted by Petronet LNG which is planning to dispatch bid documents by May 15 after seeking government's clarification on the issues concerning association of Indian shipping companies with the transportation of the fuel.

As per tender norms, it is mandatory for the foreign companies to take an Indian company as partner while bidding for the contract.
