Benedetti Cleared

Italys high court on Wednesday threw out the conviction of Olivetti ex-chairman Carlo De Benedetti in the collapse of Italys Banco Ambrosiano, one of Italys biggest corruption scandals. De Benedetti had faced 4-1/2 years in prison for the 1992 conviction. His lawyers on Wednesday praised the high courts decision as a recognition that their client had undergone an unjust ordeal.
