Groundnut oil held overall steady, while most other edible oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market here yesterday.
Groundnut oil was nominally quoted at Rs 625 per 10 kg. Arrivals remained thin. Linseed oil, sesame oil and copra oil white firmed by Rs 5 each to Rs 485, Rs 455 and Rs 545 per 10 kg, respectively.
Neem oil and ricebran oil fell by Rs 5 and Re 1 to Rs 280 and Rs 217 per 10 kg, respectively. Karanji oil looked up by Rs 3 at Rs 243 per 10 kg on improved offtake against limited inflow. Imported palmolein eased by Rs 2 at Rs 385 per 10 kg.
In futures, December contract opened Rs 19 higher at Rs 1,649 a quintal and firmed to Rs 1,660. It declined to Rs 1,649 before closing at Rs 1,660 a quintal.
Sugar: An easy-to-subdued trend was noticed in prices at the wholesale sugar market yesterday. Both grades ruled subdued on the release of additional sugar levy quota by the government.
S-30 eased to Rs 1,465-1,485 against its previous level of Rs 1,.465-1,490 a quintal. M-30 softened to Rs 1,490/1,550 a quintal against its previous level of Rs 1,485-1,560 on subdued consumer demand and easy arrivals. Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted higher at Rs 1,440-1,460 a quintal for S-30 and Rs 1,460-1,490 a quintal for M-30.
Non-ferrous metals: Firm conditions prevailed at the local non-ferrous metals market yesterday.
Copper heavy scraps improved by Re 1, while copper utensils and brass utensils firmed up by 25 paise each to Rs 99.00, Rs 90.50 and Rs 83.50 a kg, respectively. Brass sheetcuttings also advanced by 50 paise at Rs 85.50 a kg.
Meanwhile, aluminium utensils ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted at Rs 63.50 a kg on narrow movements.
In virgin metals,copper wirebar looked up by 50 paise at Rs 114.00 a kg. Zinc slabs eased by 50 paise at Rs 77.00 a kg on dull industrial demand.
The other metals were nominally quoted as under : aluminium ingots Rs 86.00, lead ingots Rs 45.50, tin slabs Rs 384 and nickel cathodes Rs 251 a kg, respectively, on narrow movement.
Bullion: A mixed trend was noticed in both the precious metals at the local mart yesterday. Silver ruled weak while gold ruled overall steady.
Silver.999 and .916 eased by Rs 20 each to Rs 7,425 and Rs 7,290 a kg, respectively.
Standard gold and 22 carat gold ruled were nominally quoted at Rs 4,350 and Rs 4,025 per 10 grams, respectively, on steady overseas advices coupled with moderate seasonal offtake.
Gold biscuit tags ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted at Rs 51,100 per piece of gold biscuit.
